about my art work...

I enjoy using art to document unique moments. Because watercolor offers fresh
surface impression
s and unexpected results, it has been a good medium for
capturing fleeting moods. Watercolors have formed the basis of much of my work,
but
for the past two years I have been experimenting with combining watercolors
with a collection of images that I have found either visually or emotionally interesting.
Working with collage  has helped me to develop my art in a new direction.

More recently, I have been
using gouache and oil paints to record the personal
associations,
narratives, and histories of a scene.  I am especially interested in
contrasting moods and  contrasting visual elements.   I enjoy working
representationally as well as more abstractly.

I see my art work as a reflection on my own recent personal history in the world, a
way of tapping into my journeys. I have been fortunate enough to have lived in
environments that are very culturally and physically diverse. These combined
histories are a continuing resource of memories and experiences that provide part of
my response to art.
